Policies & Participant Rights

Participant Rights and Safety

At Safe & Sound Disability, every participant has the right to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness and in every single day. These rights are not optional. They are non-negotiable, and we take them seriously.

As an NDIS participant receiving services from Safe & Sound Disability, you have the following rights at all times. Understanding these rights is an important part of being in control of your own support.

Your Rights as an NDIS Participant

You have the right to feel safe, be respected, make your own choices, and receive quality support. Your privacy must be protected, and you can speak up, ask questions, or have someone support you at any time.

Be Safe and Free from Harm

You have the right to be free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, violence, and discrimination of any kind at all times.

Be Treated with Dignity and Respect

Every interaction with our team should be respectful, considerate, and affirming of your worth as a person, not just as a participant.

Make Your Own Choices and Decisions

You have the right to exercise choice and control over your supports, your goals, and how you live your life — we support your decisions, not override them.

Have Your Privacy Protected

Your personal information is kept strictly confidential. We collect and handle your data in accordance with Australian privacy law and the NDIS Practice Standards.

Receive Quality, Tailored Supports

You have the right to support that is high quality, evidence-based, and genuinely tailored to your individual needs, goals, and circumstances.

Be involved in planning your services

You have the right to actively participate in decisions about your support plan, service agreements, and goals. Your input matters and shapes what we do.

Raise Concerns Without Fear

You can raise concerns, ask questions, or make a complaint at any time — without any fear of negative consequences to your support or relationship with us.

Access an Advocate or Support Person

You have the right to have a trusted person — a family member, friend, carer, or formal advocate — support you in any interaction with our service.

NDIS Participant Rights — Know Your Rights

The NDIS has a dedicated resource to help participants understand their rights. Visit ndis.gov.au to learn more about participant rights under the NDIS framework, or contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission for independent support.
