Our experienced recovery coaches draw on extensive mental health knowledge to help you improve your quality of life and overall wellbeing. We work alongside you to navigate daily challenges, build resilience, and regain control over your life — not just manage it.

Our coaches are senior therapists supported by a multidisciplinary team of behaviour specialists and clinicians. You can choose a recovery coach whose professional background and experience aligns with your personal recovery journey. Together, we’ll support your goals and empower you to move forward with confidence.

Understanding the Role

What Is a Psychosocial Recovery Coach?

A Psychosocial Recovery Coach combines coaching principles with recovery-oriented practices. Their goal is to help you manage daily challenges, build resilience and capacity, and take more control of your life — through respectful, strong, and consistent relationships.

Unlike a support coordinator who focuses primarily on NDIS plan implementation, a recovery coach focuses specifically on your mental health recovery journey — helping you set meaningful goals, develop coping strategies, and work toward a full and meaningful life.

This service is specifically designed to sustain engagement even during periods of heightened support needs, recognising the episodic nature of mental illness and the importance of continuous, reliable support.

“My recovery coach helped me set goals I actually believed in — and then helped me achieve them. For the first time in years I feel like I’m moving forward.”

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

Q

What is the difference between a recovery coach and a support coordinator?

A Support Coordinator focuses on implementing your NDIS plan and connecting you with services. A Psychosocial Recovery Coach focuses specifically on your mental health recovery journey — helping you build resilience, set goals, and develop the skills and strategies for a more independent life.

Q

How is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching funded?

It is funded under the Capacity Building — Support Coordination budget in your NDIS plan. The NDIS determines funding eligibility based on your assessed needs and your psychosocial disability. Contact us if you’re unsure whether you have this funded.

Q

What mental health conditions does recovery coaching support?

Recovery coaching supports participants living with psychosocial disability arising from any mental health condition — including depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and other complex mental health diagnoses.

Q

Can I have both a recovery coach and a support coordinator?

Yes. Many NDIS participants have both. They serve different purposes — your support coordinator manages your NDIS plan and service connections, while your recovery coach focuses on your mental health recovery goals and day-to-day wellbeing. The two roles complement each other.

Q

Will my recovery coach support me during a mental health crisis?

Yes. One of the key distinguishing features of recovery coaching is consistent support even during periods of heightened mental health needs. Your coach will help you navigate difficult episodes, stay connected to your recovery plan, and maintain stability throughout.

Q

Can I choose my own recovery coach?

Absolutely. Under the NDIS, you have choice and control over your providers and supports. We encourage participants to meet with potential coaches to find the right fit before committing — the relationship is central to effective recovery coaching.
