Worker Screening and Staff Standards
Safe & Sound Disability is committed to delivering safe, professional, and trustworthy support. Every team member who works with participants is carefully selected, appropriately screened, and expected to meet the highest standards of conduct and care.
The safety of our participants begins with the people who support them. We take this responsibility seriously — and that means going beyond minimum requirements wherever we can.
Our Staff Screening and Selection Requirements
Team members at Safe & Sound Disability are engaged in line with all relevant NDIS and state-based requirements. Our screening and selection process may include:
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Where required under NDIS legislation, all workers hold a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check — a nationally consistent clearance that assesses whether a person poses a risk to participants.
Police Checks
Police checks are conducted where applicable to our team's roles and responsibilities — ensuring any criminal history relevant to working with vulnerable people is identified and assessed.
Relevant Qualifications and Experience
All team members hold the qualifications and experience appropriate to their role — whether that is in social work, disability support, mental health, or behaviour support practice.
Ongoing Training and Professional Development
We invest in continuous learning for our team — including NDIS practice standards, safeguarding, cultural awareness, mental health first aid, and person-centred support approaches.
Commitment to Participant Rights and Safeguarding
Every team member is required to understand, uphold, and actively promote participant rights, dignity, and safety as a core and non-negotiable part of their role.
Standards of Conduct We Expect
We hold all staff to the highest standards of professionalism, respect, and care. Every person who works with Safe & Sound Disability is expected to:
Act with Integrity
Behave honestly and ethically in every interaction with participants, families, colleagues, and partner organisations at all times.
Respect Cultural Diversity
Treat every participant with cultural sensitivity and awareness, respecting backgrounds, identities, beliefs, and individual circumstances.
Prioritise Participant Safety
Always put the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of participants first and reporting any concerns promptly and acting to prevent harm before it occurs.
